Vinted Users Share Frustration Over Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
